Princess Alexia*

Alexia HRH Princess of Greece, Mrs Morales is the oldest child of TM King Constantine II of Greece and Queen Anne-Marie. She was born on July 10, 1965 in Mon Repos on Corfu.

Alexia's early years were spent in Greece until the Colonel's coup in December 1967 when the Royal Family fled to Rome. It was in Rome that she began her education taught in Greek by a private tutor, John Kanellopoulos.

In 1973 the royal family left Rome for Denmark where they lived in Amelienborg Palace for a year.

In 1974, the family moved to Surrey, England where they settled for a time. It was during their residency that Alexia attended the Hellenic College(which her parents founded in 1980)in London. The princess earned 2 'A' levels to add to her Greek qualifications and her graduating class was the last to receive the Greek Baccalaureate.

In 1984-85 she spent a year doing volunteer work at the London Hospital for sick children helping in the play center at the hospital.

After her volunteer service she attended Froebel College of the Roehampton Institute of Surrey University where she attained a Bachelors of Arts in History in 1988. In 1989 she further attained a Post-Graduate certificate in Education and became an elementary school teacher. She taught at the inner city area of Sothwark between 1989-1992.

In 1992 the princess took a sabbatical and went to Barcelona for the summer Olympics. She fell in love with the weather in Spain and decided to remain. While in Spain she attended the Catalan Foundation for Down Syndrome where she earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Intervention. This qualified her to work with children who have mental or physical problems.

In 1994 Alexia met the man who would become her husband. His name was Carlos Morales a Spanish Architect. After a long courtship the two were married on July 9, 1999 at St. Sophia's Cathedral in London before a plethora of royals, family and friends. They currently make their home in the Canary Islands and have two daughters: Arrietta(2001) and Ana-Maria(2002).
